Join the Lion Club
Alighieri
The Diamond Leone Medallion, 9kt Solid Gold, £2,250

Rosh Mahtani's jewellery brand Alighieri goes from strength to strength, all built on inspiration from Dante's Inferno, which the designer studied at the University of Oxford. One of the designer's earliest pieces in 2014, was this, the Leone Medallion, shown in a fine solid gold and diamond made-to-order version version here, but also available in 24 carat gold plated silver  and 9 carat gold plated silver which Mahtani says, “I created as a reminder to myself, to be strong in moments of self-doubt." Since its launch Alighieri has grown "The Lion Club", populated by people who own the piece, including Marcus Rashford, Iris Law, and Sandra Oh, all connected by their resolve to face challenges with confidence.

The textured medallion is inspired by the moment when Dante Alighieri finds himself in the selva oscura (dark wood) of the Inferno, confronted by a terrifying lion. Dante crumbles and has an existential crisis when his mentor and friend, Virgil, suddenly appears to reassure him and give him confidence. It is a turning point, where fear turns to self-belief.

Horsing in the Round
Hermes
Hermès 'Galop' ring in sterling silver, £830

Former designer for Hermès, Pierre Hardy, designed Galop as a tribute to the very first creations of the house, horse harnesses, bridles and saddles. While it has a strong profile on the hand, the soft fluidity of this ring design, and its minimal details makes it a supremely chic, signature piece for the lucky owner.

Time for a Boodles Raindance
Boodles
Raindance classic yellow gold diamond ring, £11,700

The Raindance ring by Boodles is such an enduring icon of British design it is even showcased in the V&A museum's permanent jewellery exhibition. What makes it beautiful is the riff between its seemingly random placement of diamonds, in what is actually a highly ordered design. Its total diamond weight is approximately 1.54 carats.

Girl with a Pearl
Mariko Tsuchiyama
Necklace with natural Akoya pearls from Nagasaki, Japan. Features a 9k yellow gold hook clasp. £2175

Is this the most beautiful single strand of pearls ever? It's a contender, for sure. Mariko Tsuchiyama is a designer discovered by Maria Lemos, the owner of Mouki Mou. Mariko discovered her passion for jewellery, at a young age in Japan, after visiting a pearl farm. There's no doubt that this necklace would reflect pearlescent glory on the giver and giftee.

Crystal Clear Costume Jewels
Shyla
Nancy drop crystal earrings, £72

Shyla is a jewellery brand that creates chic costume jewellery with a fine jewellery aesthetic. Their rings and earrings are the go-to for those who have the taste for Cartier, but not quite the budget, and they are having a boom in popularity right now among women who want elegant statement bling, without the eye-watering price. We recommend the Nancy drop earrings with the two crystal clear stones, and note: the earring tip is gold-plated silver so anyone with nickel allergies can rest assured these pieces won't aggravate their ears.  The stunning statement earrings are formed of a small oval stone with a large base stone. This is a chic and elegant earring that finishes off an outfit in style.

Below, we couldn't resist sharing their ring selection.
