A selection of US Gucci stores will start accepting cryptocurrency towards the end of May.
Outlets in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Atlanta and Las Vegas will accept digital tokens, according to a report in Vogue business, with the brand planning to extend the facility to all stores in Summer 2022.
“Gucci is always looking to embrace new technologies when they can provide an enhanced experience for our customers,” said Marco Bizzarri, Gucci president and CEO, in a statement. “Now that we are able to integrate cryptocurrencies within our payment system, it is a natural evolution for those customers who would like to have this option available to them.”
Customers will receive a scannable QR code via email and pay through their digital asset wallet. Gucci is currently providing cryptocurrency training to training to its staff members to get them ready to deal with this new method of payment.
