Nine Elms, a swathe of London’s South Bank larger than Monaco, is set to become one of the most exciting neighbourhoods in the capital with the opening of Park Hyatt London River Thames Residences.

What makes Nine Elms regeneration all the more inspiring is that, until 2010, it was an industrial wasteland with obsolete gasworks, run down tower blocks, and less than favourable transport connections.

The area now has not one, but two Zone 1 tube stations. Vauxhall is on the Victoria Line, while Nine Elms forms part of the new Northern Line extension. These, plus river boat and road connections to the rest of London and the world, make getting around easy, though locals will find all of their immediate needs, and more, met locally.

The conditions for culture to flourish in this emerging new quarter of central London, has already attracted fashion businesses such as Vivienne Westwood and Philip Treacy to set up their headquarters in the area. The area’s rich history also has its part to play.
Once upon a time Nine Elms was most famous for New Covent Garden Market, the vast hub for produce and flower sellers to buy their wares.
