19th October 2023
SPHERE has hand-picked the best luxury Halloween treats for 2023, suited for all the ways you could possibly be spending the 31st. Delving into spooky treats from London's esteemed chocolatiers and bakers.
Rococo - Best for Chocolate Lovers
A box of celebrations on the table isn’t enough for some of our chocolate lovers on Halloween. We think Rococo will be able to sort your cocoa fix with their range of Halloween-themed chocolates this year. From their Autumn bestseller ‘smashing of pumpkins’ filled with decadent hazelnut praline to handcrafted solid white chocolate skulls and milk chocolate bats. These goodie bags would thrill both trick-or-treaters and friends joining for Halloween movie nights alike. Be sure to watch out for any jump scares because throwing a handful of praline pumpkins out the bowl may be a touch more devastating than some losing a couple of Maltesers.
Pick up Rococo's Halloween treats from their shops in Kings Road and Marylebone Village, or order here.
Fortnum and Mason - Best for Halloween Parties
If braving the role of a host this Halloween, a hamper from Fortnum & Mason as your spooky spread will please any guest, either costume-clad or suited-up as they pour in through the door. The largest being The Halloween Hamper at £300 featuring ghoulish pralines, grinning pumpkin iced biscuits, toffee apple cookies and everything in between. Along with full bottles of Franciacorta Brut Champagne, Magnum Claret and Kah Tequila Blanco to upgrade this from a gifting hamper to a real Halloween party hamper.

Biscuiteers - Best for Gifting

Order Biscuiteers Halloween biscuits straight to the door of your choosing or pick up in person from their Notting Hill and Belgravia Biscuit Boutiques.
The Hummingbird Bakery - Best for Spooky Cakes
Every time I go to Portobello Road, I can’t wander past The Hummingbird Bakery without picking up a cupcake, so much so that I have made it a dangerous yet delightful tradition. For Halloween, it’s no secret that Hummingbird go big with their striking tall cakes resembling monsters or red velvet dripping alarmingly with red icing.
New for 2023 is the Monster Eyes cake. With layers of fluffy vanilla sponge encased in mint green buttercream and countless eyes, this is a fun crowd-pleaser that certainly stares back. For many, Halloween has you trying your hand at a bit of DIY. Whether it be painting spider webs across your face or relentlessly scraping seeds from a pumpkin in the middle of your kitchen with whatever tools you can find. The Hummingbird Bakery’s Halloween edition cupcake decorating kits are a tempting activity to be added to the mix. Containing both chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with a choice of classic Halloween or Gothic Skull decorations. Decorating these cupcakes as your DIY fix means whatever you end up with will at least taste delicious, even if your frosting is a bit wayward.
Order The Hummingbird Bakery's Halloween treats or visit one of their bakeries from Portobello Road to Soho and Spitalfields.
Lily Vanilli at The Lane - Best for an Outing
The wavering shadows of statues and ‘rumoured’ house ghost, the man in grey, aren’t the only spooky goings-on at The Lane this Halloween. With the help of Lily Vanilli for the shelves of sweet treats and warm buttery scones, their dainty yet sinister Halloween Afternoon Tea makes the perfect luxury October outing. Featuring a custard-filled mini sticky toffee pudding topped with an eye (thankfully made from sugar), a strawberry ice cream sandwich and Lily’s signature vanilla and passionfruit sponge. This featherlight cake is delicately piped with buttercream vines, transformed for Halloween with a sprinkling of edible soil and impaled with a gingerbread tombstone.
Book a Halloween Afternoon Tea at The Lane, running now between 12-5pm until the 31st October at £59 per person.
Knoops - Best for October Evenings
The idea of hot chocolate has always evoked nostalgia for me. Curled up on the sofa under a throw watching The Corpse Bride (I never quite seemed to hack the real horrors) or catching up with a friend walking through the woods as the sun dips. It’s the kind of hot drink that is even more comforting because of its ties to the evening, once the hectic events of the day are done. Coffee is usually a precursor for a tough day of work, preparing you for what is to come. Hot chocolate though, is a pure cup of comfort relieving from what’s already happened. Luxury hot chocolate brand Knoops have come out with an Autumnal addition as Halloween creeps round the corner. Grab a cup of pumpkin spice hot (or cold) chocolate to enjoy on these October evenings, relieving from the stresses and saving trifling worries about your costume for your morning coffee.
Pick up a cup from one of Knoops' many locations, or get a bag of Knoops pumpkin spice mix to add into your hot chocolates at home here. Alternatively found in Harrods and Selfridges.
