Think cognac is a drink only enjoyed with a cigar in hand in a fusty library or drawing room? Doing away with these preconceived notions, Martell are hosting two exclusive cognac-tasting experiences in the plush surrounds of the Mondrain London.
Suite Spot: The Martell Cognac Pop-Up at the Mondrian London
3rd May 2017
In an ephemeral suite at the Mondrian London, Martell hosts tasting experiences to challenge preconceived notions of their precious honeyed spirit
Guests are invited to challenge their taste buds while discovering the history and savoir-faire of Martell – the oldest cognac house in the world (founded in 1715) – with a glass of the caramel-coloured spirit in hand.
Until the 6th May, the Martell Bar located in the Den, will serve a small selection of cocktails created by mixologists from the Mondrian’s Dandelyan bar. Challenging notions that brandy should be drunk neat, the cocktails list includes a range of drinks - including the Mondrian London’s enduringly popular ‘Concrete Sauzerac’ that is made from Martell VSOP filtered through concrete - to demonstrate the versatility of cognac.
If sampling cognac cocktails isn’t enough to quench your curiosity, Martell have created a second experience at the ephemeral Martell Suite. Located in a private apartment in the hotel, the Martell Suite offers guests the chance to learn more about the brand and its spirit.
Upon arrival in the suite, guests will be welcomed with a cognac-based Milk Punch and will also sample a special 'gourmand serve' comprising of a Pierre Hermé macaron – created specially to compliment the flavours in the brandy – to sample alongside a glass of cognac.
Following this, guests will be invited into a hidden library where they will taste a selection Martell’s finest cognacs in a tasting experience led by Martell Ambassador Mathias Lataille.
The Martell Suite will take place until the 6th May, with two tasting session per evening from 7-9pm or 9-11pm. For more information and tickets please visit Eventbrite.
