Mariage Frères Launches New Japanese Floral Teas for Spring
4th March 2025
Mariage Frères unveils its 2025 spring collection, featuring two exquisite floral teas, Sakura, Sakura! and Ume Cha, inspired by Japan’s iconic cherry and plum blossoms. Paired with expertly crafted patisseries, these luxurious blends promise to please all tea enthusiasts.

Each year, Mariage Frères marks the changing seasons with an exclusive collection of teas inspired by nature’s beauty. For 2025, the Maison introduces Sakura, Sakura! 2025 and Ume Cha 2025, two exceptional teas celebrating renewal and tradition. Curated by tea master Kitti Cha Sangmanee and designed by Franck Desains, these blends pay tribute to Japan’s most cherished blossoms, cherry and plum.
I had the opportunity to visit the Mariage Frères Covent Garden store in London to sample their new spring collection. This stunning five-story tea emporium invites visitors into the world of Mariage Frères. The ground floor houses the tea counter, offering an extensive selection of over 1,000 blends, while the first-floor tea salon allows guests to experience tea-infused gastronomy, from delicate pâtisseries to savoury dishes infused with the Maison’s finest teas. The upper floors feature a tea museum and a private event space, making the Covent Garden location not just a boutique but a true destination for tea lovers.
Sakura, Sakura! 2025 – The Essence of Cherry Blossom

Housed in a striking yellow tin adorned with flowers, Sakura, Sakura! 2025 is a green tea delicately perfumed with cherry blossom. Light and fragrant, the infusion is smooth, with floral notes. Brewed at 85°C for four minutes, it offers a delicate sweetness reminiscent of spring breezes.
To accompany the tea, Mariage Frères presents the Sakura Blossom patisserie, an almond milk mousse with a core infused by the Sakura, Sakura green tea sitting on top of crispy almond dragées that have a distinct sweetness to them. The crisp base gives way to a velvety mousse mirroring the softness of the tea’s floral profile. Together, they create a refined pairing that elevates the tasting experience.
Ume Cha 2025 – A Tribute to Plum Blossom

Symbolising resilience and renewal, Ume Cha 2025 is a green tea infused with the essence of plum blossom. Packaged in an elegant white canister with golden snowflakes, the tea should be steeped at 95°C for three minutes, to produce a floral yet fruity infusion that creates a tantalising taste experience. More structured than Sakura, this tea lingers on the palate, offering depth and sophistication.
This tea is paired with Fleur de Prunier, composed of an Ume Cha infused Chantilly cream with a plum centre sitting atop a Genoa-style biscuit of almonds and Bourbon vanilla. My personal favourite of the two patisseries, the tartness of the plum cut through the sweetness creating a nice balance that isn’t overly rich.
Mariage Frère Easter Collection

Alongside these featured teas, Mariage Frères introduces a selection of limited-edition blends for 2025, including the Thé de Pâques Collection, which combines notes of crème brûlée, vanilla, and citrus across black, green, and blue tea varieties. The Rhapsody Collection and In Love Collection offer floral and aromatic blends in muslin sachets, continuing the brand’s dedication to high-quality, evocative infusions.
Each of these teas carries the Jardin Premier label, ensuring the highest purity and sourcing standards. Whether seeking the delicate charm of cherry blossom or the depth of plum, Mariage Frères' latest creations invite tea lovers to celebrate the season with elegance and artistry. For those in London, a visit to Mariage Frères Covent Garden offers the perfect setting to immerse oneself in these seasonal offerings and enjoy a diverse tea experience. The accompanying tea patisseries can be enjoyed in store, retailing for £14.
