The spherical ‘Biosphere’ hotel is surrounded by 340 Bird Houses.

Located in Harads, near the Lule river in Sweden, Treehotel’s unique accommodation including a UFO, a Dragonfly, a Mirrored Cube and a Bird’s Nest has another addition to its award-winning Treehouse retreat.

With a facade containing 340 bird nests, Biosphere is accessed via a suspended bridge that slopes from the ground to the top of the trees. The interior of the 34m2 hotel room incorporates organic materials inspired by the surrounding landscape. The Two-person room contains a sofa, a double bed, a shower, an incinerating toilet and a sauna. Visitor also have access to a roof terrace that offers 360-degree views of the surrounding forest.

One of Biosphere's architects, João Albuquerque, described the goal of the project: "We designed the Biosphere to create a unique experience for hotel guests, which takes inspiration from the qualities of the surrounding forest and absorbs them into the interior. The ecological response is the driver behind the architectural expression, helping to create a positive environmental impact."

Prices are seasonal but a stay in the Biosphere will cost you from 12,000 SEK (£963) per night, including breakfast.
