Choosing Keeping
Celebrating their first decade in London this year, Choosing Keeping has been a godsend to Covent Garden. Currently they’re offering a new series of notebooks made with original wallpaper dated from 1920s-1970s and some exquisite fountain pens including luxury urushi implements direct from Japan. As the country starts planning to go back to school we pick the best stationery shops in the capital.
L. Cornelissen & son
One of the most creatively inspiring spaces in London - no wonder master stage designer Es Devlin shops there. Trading in central London since 1855, this is a specialist fine artists' materials shop featuring colours of every hue. After your visit to the British Museum stop by for everything you need for calligraphy, painting or printing - we’re particularly fond of their pasteboard sketchbooks which fold completely flat. Mount Street Printers
The most elegant staff member have ever worked with always swore by Mount Street for all his correspondence. It’s not hard to see why - they’ve been printing in the heart of Mayfair since 1981. Our current favourite are these letterpress notecards complete with an initial in an art deco font - the perfect way to say thank you as ever so much more chic than a Whatsapp message. Liberty
Although the stationery department has now moved from the ground floor - it’s now on the first next to the interiors - there is still nowhere better in the capital. Naturally the printed range is comprehensive but also check out the Japanese woodcut inspired Esmie line for 2023 diaries, guestbooks, journals. (libertylondon.com)

Now boasting two stores in the capital - in Shoreditch and Marylebone - this can be your next stop for Japanese envelopes, traditional British exercise books and hand printed letter postcards.
