Jikoni are opening a popup for the first time in their history.
On creating a vegetarian menu Ravinder describes how she learnt to treat even the most dull vegetables like turnips and celeriac with respect and cook them without relying on the safety blankets of meat and fish from her vegetarian foremothers,” who perfected the art of making meat-free plates jangle with flavour.” Ravinder will source much of the produce to be used at Frieze from Jikoni’s biodynamic farm partner, Waltham Place. She notes, “when the world feels like a wilderness, we find safety and refuge in nature. Fruits, vegetables, grains and herbs are a boon and their presence in our kitchen is life affirming and deserves our attention, respect and celebration.”
The 130 cover pop-up restaurant will be the first time Jikoni has ventured out of its Blandford Street premises. It will be decorated with plush foliage both edible and otherwise from Waltham Place and will showcase the generous and warm hospitality lead by general manager Neel Kapur that Jikoni has become so well known for.
