In partnership with Hendrick's Gin, Berners Tavern has created a trio of special cocktails that incorporate plant-based ingredients, such as damask rose, jasmine and fennel. Already a favourite on Instagram, the impressive venue has also become even more snappable with 'botanical flair' decor, transformed with a wild garden of flowers, foliage and cucumbers (a key ingredient in Hendricks'). Diners can also sample dishes from the restaurant's inaugural plant-based vegan menu, which launches at the start of RHS Chelsea and will run till the end of June - even the most die-hard of carnivores will be tempted by the sweet and sour artichokes, served with crispy shallots and smoked chilli.
Where to celebrate the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in style
18th May 2018
From botanical-inspired dining to pretty takes on afternoon tea, we round up the capital’s top luxury destinations getting into the horticultural mood
ME London Radio Rooftop Bar
Pray for good weather - an exclusive RHS Chelsea Flower Show cocktail menu is available at ME London's Radio Rooftop Bar for the duration of the show. Four themed cocktails come in pretty pastel colours, garnished with floral decorations. Highlights include the Pisco Lavender Sour, made with Waqar and lavender syrup, as well as the Violet Crown, which comes with a hit of Star of Bombay gin.
The Dorchester
At The Dorchester, a RHS Chelsea Flower Show-inspired pop-up restaurant and bar will offer guests a flower-powered afternoon tea experience. The Drawing Room pop-up is set to serve traditionally British afternoon tea throughout the day, alongside Morning Tea from 8:30-10:30am, while floral cocktails can be found at The Dorchester bar. Alternatively, you can stay at the hotel with a special The Dorchester at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show package, which includes entrance to the show, afternoon tea at The Drawing Room and luxury accommodation.
Thomas Café at Burberry
Over on Regent St, Thomas' Café (located at Burberry's flagship store) has conjured up a two-or-three course lunch offeringfestooned with edible flowers in honour of the show. British cuisine is at the heart of the menu, including Wye Valley asparagus with Berkswell cheese and an Isle of Wight tomato and basil tart. Those with a sweet tooth will be delighted by the pudding, which comes in the form of a floral ice bowl filled with elderflower sorbet, rose ice cream, shortbread and lemon curd.
Royal Lancaster London
The Royal Lancaster London hotel is another must for a botanical-themed afternoon tea - from a special 'Flowering Tea' to delicacies like strawberry tart, Valhrona chocolate pots and smoked salmon roses, the Bloomin' Brilliant menu makes for a rather delightful treat. Splash out on a glass of Moët & Chandon champers and be sure to save room for scones.
