James Graham’s critically acclaimed play, Best of Enemies, is due to move from the Young Vic to the Novello in November 2022.
Inspired by Morgan Neville and Robert Gordon's 2015 documentary, Best of Enemies follows Gore Vidal and William F Buckley Jr as they battle it out an a series of debates during the 1968 presidential election. The play also contains other celebrities from the time such as David Brinkley, Andy Warhol, James Baldwin, and Aretha Franklin.
Graham has recently had success with the BBC drama Sherwood which devised and wrote whereas director Jeremy Herrin has received mixed reviews for the recent production of the Glass Menagerie starring Amy Addams.
The cast was originally led by David Harewood as Buckley and Charles Edwards as Vidal but thus far there has been no news as to who will tackle the lead roles at the Novello.
