In partnership with Artsy.net, the lauded annual showcase for contemporary art and design will take the form of a virtual selling fair this year

While the effects of Covid-19 continue to impact London’s cultural calendar, the organisers behind some of the art world’s leading events are having to think laterally. This week, it was announced that Collect – the collectible craft-focused fair founded by the Crafts Council – will be going digital for its 2021 edition (26 Feb – 2 March), rather than taking place at Somerset House.

The news comes as a result of Collect’s recent collaboration with global art platform Artsy.net, which will enable art and design collectors to acquire works on show from the comfort of their own homes. What’s more, the nature of the online partnership also opens Collect up to a larger international audience, with pieces available to purchase for a full month, until 26 March. 30 galleries from three continents have been confirmed for the 17th edition, meaning that work by hundreds of artists will be available to purchase.

As the world’s only gallery-presented art fair dedicated to contemporary art and design, all of Collect’s sought-after creations have been produced in the last five years by living makers from across the globe – what’s more, many pieces are hand-crafted especially for the fair. Even if you’re not an avid collector, it’s well worth a look for design inspiration – many interior designers use Collect as a means to commission bespoke pieces.
